    To provide real-time safety monitoring and emergency assistance, we collect the following types of information:

    • Account Data: Name, email address, phone number, and a secure password.
    • Emergency Contacts: Phone numbers and names of individuals you designate to be notified in an emergency.
    • Precise Location Data: With your explicit permission, we collect real-time GPS coordinates. This is used only when a "Safety Session" or "Emergency Alert" is active.
    • Sensor Data: Information from your device's accelerometer and gyroscope to detect falls or sudden impacts (Crash Detection).
    • Device Information: Operating system version, device model, and unique device identifiers to ensure app stability.
  2. How We Use Your Data

    We use your information strictly for safety-related purposes:

    • Emergency Alerts: Sharing your live location with your designated emergency contacts and/or emergency services (112/133) when an alert is triggered.
    • Safety Monitoring: Analyzing sensor data to detect potential emergencies (e.g., a fall or lack of movement).
    • Communication: Sending SMS or push notifications to you and your contacts regarding your safety status.
  3. Data Sharing and Disclosure

    We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We only share data in the following scenarios:

    • To Emergency Responders: Providing your location to official dispatchers during an active emergency.
    • To Your Guardians: Sending your live-tracking link to the contacts you have selected.
    • Legal Compliance: If required by law, we may disclose information to comply with a subpoena or court order.
  4. Your Control and Rights

    You maintain full control over your data:

    • Location Access: You can enable or disable location permissions at any time via your device settings. Note that disabling this will limit the app's core safety functions.
    • Data Deletion: You may request the deletion of your account and all associated data at any time through the in-app settings.
    • Access & Correction: You can update your profile and emergency contact list within the app.
  5. Security Measures

    In 2026, we utilize End-to-End Encryption (E2EE) for all live-location streams shared with guardians. Your data is stored on secure servers using AES-256 encryption. We implement "Privacy by Design," meaning we minimize data retention; location history is automatically purged 24 hours after a safety session ends unless you choose to save it.

  6. International Compliance (GDPR/CCPA/DPDP)
    • GDPR: For users in the EU, we process data based on "Vital Interests" and "Contractual Necessity."
    • CCPA: California residents have the right to opt-out of data sharing (though we do not sell data) and request a portable copy of their information.
    • Children's Privacy: SafeSignal is not intended for children under 13 without parental consent.

    We may update this policy to reflect changes in privacy laws or app features. We will notify you of any significant changes via a prominent in-app notification.
